What country is Bultaco from?
Built in Barcelona, Spain, Bultaco motorcycles were exported throughout the world, but their largest market ultimately became the USA, allowing aspiring racers to purchase legitimately competitive motorcycles without modification.
A former Spanish motorcycle manufacturer, Bultaco was established in 1958 and focused on primarily producing two-stroke motorcycles including road, off-road, motocross, enduro, and road racing motorcycles. Bultaco has been defunct since 1983.

Barcelona-based Bultaco was founded in 1958 and closed in 1983, but now is making a comeback…after several other attempts. The new Bultaco isn't returning with trials or motocross bikes, but instead Bultaco is working on a line of electric motorcycles from LGN Tech Design SL.
The name, Sherco, derives from the amalgamation of two words, Bultaco and Sherpa, that harks back to the company's origins. The Barcelona factory, that was founded in 1998, specializes in the trial category, while the French factory, which was established in 2003, specializes in the rest of the production.
The cubist, brightly-colored motorcycles that fascinated American racers originated in a small automobile repair shop in post-World War I Germany. Maico (“Maisch & Company”) was formed in Poltringen, an industrial town in the southwest corner of Germany.

In the late 1970s, a combination of events led to the demise of Hodaka. Falling US dollar exchange rates against the Japanese yen, a shift in demand from dirt bikes to larger road bikes, and general economic weakness fatally wounded the company.
Subsequent manufacturers have purchased the brand name and applied it to their own limited production motorcycles. Modern open-class dirt-bikes are still being produced under the Maico brandname.
